Acceptable Use Policy
Last updated: 4 July 2026
Applies to: SiliconKiwi services, including VPS hosting, cloud servers, websites, DNS, backups, support systems, customer portal access, managed hosting and related infrastructure.
1. Purpose
This Acceptable Use Policy explains how SiliconKiwi services may and may not be used. It helps protect our customers, our network, our infrastructure, and other internet users.
By using SiliconKiwi services, you agree to use them lawfully, responsibly and in a way that does not harm others or place unreasonable risk or load on our systems.
2. Your responsibilities
You are responsible for all activity that occurs through your SiliconKiwi account, services, servers, credentials, API keys, IP addresses, domains or systems hosted with us.
You must keep your passwords, private keys, administrator accounts and customer portal access secure. You are also responsible for ensuring that any users, staff, contractors, customers or third parties using your SiliconKiwi services comply with this policy.
If your server, website, application or account is compromised or misused, you must take reasonable steps to stop the activity as soon as possible.
3. Prohibited activity
You must not use SiliconKiwi services for unlawful, harmful, abusive or high-risk activity, including the following.
Illegal or harmful content
You must not host, transmit, publish, store or link to content that is unlawful, fraudulent, defamatory, harassing, threatening, exploitative, or that infringes another person’s rights.
This includes content that promotes, enables or facilitates crime, abuse, exploitation, unauthorised access, identity theft, scams or other unlawful conduct.
Spam and messaging abuse
You must not send unsolicited bulk email, spam, phishing messages, scam messages or other unwanted communications using SiliconKiwi services.
You must not operate open mail relays, compromised mail systems, deceptive mailing infrastructure, or services that are primarily used to send, relay or support spam.
Malware, phishing and security abuse
You must not host, distribute, control or support malware, ransomware, botnets, phishing pages, credential theft tools, exploit kits, command-and-control infrastructure, or systems used to attack or compromise others.
You must not scan, probe, attack, disrupt, intercept or attempt to gain unauthorised access to any system, network, account, service or data.
Network abuse
You must not use SiliconKiwi services for denial-of-service attacks, reflection attacks, amplification attacks, spoofing, route hijacking, abusive crawling, excessive scraping, unauthorised proxying, or activity that damages the operation or reputation of our network.
You must not announce, route or use IP addresses that are not assigned to you, unless SiliconKiwi has expressly authorised this in writing.
Resource abuse
You must not use SiliconKiwi services in a way that unreasonably affects other customers or the platform.
This includes excessive CPU, memory, disk, network, database, mail queue, process, file handle or backup usage outside the intended purpose of the service.
For VPS services, you may use the resources included with your plan, but you must not bypass limits, abuse the platform, or create unreasonable operational risk.
Circumvention and evasion
You must not attempt to bypass usage limits, security controls, rate limits, filtering, account restrictions, suspensions, abuse controls or billing controls.
You must not use false identity details, stolen payment methods, misleading contact information or deceptive account structures.
Intellectual property infringement
You must not use SiliconKiwi services to infringe copyright, trade marks, software licences, database rights, design rights or other intellectual property rights.
We may act on credible infringement notices, court orders, regulatory requests or other evidence of unlawful use.
4. Email and DNS requirements
Where you send email using SiliconKiwi services or infrastructure, you must maintain appropriate DNS and authentication records where relevant, including SPF, DKIM, DMARC, PTR/rDNS and accurate domain contact information.
You must not use misleading sender details, forged headers, deceptive domains or lookalike domains for fraudulent purposes.
5. Security obligations
You must take reasonable steps to secure systems hosted on SiliconKiwi services. This includes applying security updates, using strong authentication, limiting administrative access, removing unused services, monitoring for compromise, and responding promptly to abuse reports.
If we believe your service is compromised or causing harm, we may restrict, isolate, suspend or null-route the service to protect SiliconKiwi, our customers and other internet users.
6. Fair use
Some services may include generous bandwidth, storage or resource allowances. These services are still subject to fair and reasonable use.
Fair use means usage that is consistent with the type of service purchased and does not degrade service quality, create abnormal platform load, or indicate resale, automation, abuse, mining, mass proxying, bulk scraping, spam, or another use outside the intended purpose of the plan.
7. Monitoring and investigation
We do not actively inspect customer content as a matter of routine. However, we may monitor network traffic patterns, logs, system health, abuse reports, security alerts and service performance to operate and protect SiliconKiwi services.
Where we receive a complaint or detect a risk, we may investigate and request information from you. You must cooperate with reasonable requests relating to abuse, security, identity, billing, technical troubleshooting or compliance.
8. Enforcement
If you breach this policy, SiliconKiwi may take action depending on the seriousness and urgency of the issue.
This may include warning you, requesting remediation, rate limiting, filtering, blocking traffic, disabling ports, suspending a service, removing content, terminating service, reporting unlawful activity, or preserving evidence where legally required.
Where possible, we will try to contact you before taking disruptive action. However, we may act without notice where needed to protect customers, the network, third parties, our legal position, or the integrity of our services.
9. Reporting abuse
Please report abuse involving SiliconKiwi services to:
Email: abuse@siliconkiwi.nz
Support: https://support.btit.nz
Website: https://siliconkiwi.nz
Please include as much detail as possible, such as IP addresses, domains, timestamps, logs, message headers, URLs, screenshots or other evidence.
10. Changes to this policy
SiliconKiwi may update this policy from time to time. The current version will be published on our website. Continued use of our services after a policy update means you accept the updated policy.
